Wood Baseball Bats by RockBats

(a.k.a. the informational website - WoodBats.ORG)

RockBats leads the maple bat industry in quality and innovation.

The ONLY baseball bat company that tests every bat

and identifies the actual sweet spot on the barrel of the bat.

A great instructional feature for both young and experienced players

Knowing the pin-point location of the sweet spot will help players to (1) improve their position in the batter's box, so that the sweet spot is out over the plate, and (2) determine if adjustments are necessary in their swing, by viewing ball marks on the barrel.

The creators of  FORCE Technology® for hard maple bats, which stands for...

Face-ORiented Contact Energy.

Hard Maple bats that follow this technology are stronger and higher-performing than bats made the traditional way.

Offering a Quality Warranty on every RockBat.

The Quality Warranty means that we  assure that every RockBat contains straight-grained wood in the handle, which results in higher-strength and performance.   Beginning in 2009, "straight-grain" became a measurable property, because a slope-of-grain requirement was adopted by the major and minor professional leagues.

RockBats created a slope-of-grain grading system for their bats when the company was founded in 2002.

Our solid-wood RockBats

Solid-wood RockBats - Walker finish

We assure straight-grain wood in our solid-wood RockBats by including the ink spot on the flat-grain face of the bat.   This is a requirement that has also been adopted by the Major and Minor Professional Leagues.

Ink Spot    Ink Spot

The ink spot bleeds along the length, and this allows us to measure the angle of grain on the handle.

RockBats only offers bats that meet the slope-of-grain requirements of the professional leagues.

Our laminated-wood RockBats

New 2009 all-wood laminated composite RockBat!

We call these laminated-wood RockBats an "all-wood laminated composite", because it is ENGINEERED to increase durability, and to improve the performance of hitting a baseball.

There are 3 zones in this bat:

(1) hard maple outer shell

(2) lightweight wood in the core of the barrel

(3) extra-strong Hickory in the core of the handle

The balance shift toward the hands, and the lightweight barrel result in generating more bat speed.

Be sure to read more about these features of our composite bat design at this link...

A word about broken bats...

Broken Bat - slope-of-grain failure

If you have been breaking bats that look like the one shown above, then that means that you have been supplied with bats that do NOT have straight-grain wood.

The most noticeable clue that a bat did NOT have straight-grain is the oval-shaped failure plane.

If your bat DOES have straight-grain, then it will NOT break by a slope-of-grain failure - like the one shown above.   A bat with good straight-grain wood can be up to 300% stronger than the bats like the broken one shown above.  Bats that are made with good straight-grain wood should last longer, and perform better.

HOWEVER, if you mis-hit a ball away from the sweet spot, it is still possible to break a bat - even one with straight-grain wood.

If a bat with straight-grained wood fails, it will typically fail by a failure type called "RUPTURE".

Broken Bat - rupture failure

Rupture failures are safer, because the bat does not typically fly apart into multiple-pieces.

Because your bat stays together, your final hit with a straight-grained bat has a better chance of still achieving a hit.   This is referred to as "Your Bat Going Down a Hero".

Because RockBats is the only manufacturer that tests and identifies the location of the sweet spot, and you now know the importance of hitting near the sweet spot  (for durability and performance) - all these features wrapped up into our RockBats will prove vital in helping you train and become a better hitter.
