Adult Baseball Bat Models
RockBats is the most advanced
maple baseball bat company in the industry.
Since 2005, we have advocated face-grain contact for our maple bats, and
trademarked this as FORCE TechnologyTM in 2006. Face-grain
contact is now an industry standard in Professional Baseball - all
manufacturers who supply Profession Players are now required to orient their logo on maple bats for
face-grain contact.
Read below how we are one of
the few bat manufacturers who provide bats having wood-quality that meets
and exceeds the new 2009 Bat Regulations in Professional Baseball.
How can you tell if your bat
is high quality?
- When you have the ink spot on the wood grain of the handle, you can
MEASURE if the wood quality is high. ALL manufacturers now need to
do this in 2009 for bats that they supply Professional players, however,
MOST manufacturers do NOT provide this quality to the general public.
NOTE: that all of our Walker and Natural
finish SOLID-WOOD bats will have an ink spot on the handle to show the
straightness of grain. This is a
requirement in Professional Baseball, and we are one of the few
companies to offer this quality to the general public.
Basically, if the "slope-of-grain" is greater than 3-degrees, the bat is
likely to break into multiple-pieces; if the "slope-of-grain" is
less than 3-degrees, the bat will likely stay in one piece if/when it
breaks. Bats with straight grain are much more durable
than bats that have severe grain slopes.

Where you can learn more about wood quality and wood baseball bats
RockBats is still the only
company that tests every bat and identifies the location of the sweet spot
on the barrel with our diamond-shaped sticker
- No other company does this.

Our diamond stickers are becoming the
TRUE symbol of quality in wood bats!
Our All-Wood Laminated
Composite RockBats -
how can we make our solid-wood RockBats even better? Well, we
considered 3 of the top factors that affect performance, and engineered
the ultimate all-wood baseball bat.
The 3 most influential
factors that affect performance in an all-wood bat are
bat speed, bat shape,
and material properties.
Below is what we came up
with...
Bat speed.
we inserted an extra
lightweight wood in the core of our maple barrel, which reduces the
overall weight, and shifts the balance of the bat toward the hands
(yes, this is like a corked bat). We also inserted an extra-strong,
high-density wood in the core of our maple handle, which further shifts
balance toward the hands. The result: an engineered bat that
will provide more bat speed than a solid-wood bat having the same shape
and weight.
Bat shape.
All of our RockBat
models that are available in solid-wood are now available in our all-wood
laminated composite design. If you feel that you can swing a
big-barrel bat with little drop in bat speed, then you can go for that
"extra" performance by trying our model RB 174C. This has the
largest barrel diameter, and if you are a strong player, and can swing
this just as fast... then you will get maximum performance out of this bat
model. NOTE: due to the thin-handle design, we only offer this
bat model in our laminated composite version - because it has HICKORY in
the handle of the bat.
Material properties.
To a lesser extent than bat speed, the material properties that you put
into a bat are important. If you make a bat with high-stiffness
wood, you will achieve better performance (i.e. faster ball
speed) compared to the same bat with "average" wood in the handle.
Too much flex in the handle is lost energy - energy that could have bee
transferred to the ball.
NOTE: Our
RockBats are manufactured using ALL-WOOD components.
RockBats does not use
fiberglass wraps, fiber-reinforced plastic handles, or internal metal
rods. Be sure to check with your league to confirm that you
can use this bat - if they say "no composites", be sure to ask if ALL-WOOD
bats are allowed.
Basically, we have engineered
the optimum ALL-WOOD bat for the task of hitting a baseball.

Colors Available |
Due to changes in 2009 Bat Regulations in
Professional Baseball, our primary finish for SOLID-WOOD BATS will be the
Walker Finish (black barrel, natural-finish handle),

We target maintaining Walker-finish bats in
our "ready inventory" so that we may ship them out to you sooner.
If we have Black or Natural finish
available, you will see those options appear in the shopping cart below.
Our All-Wood Laminated Composite RockBats are primarily finished as
"Inverse Walker"
(Natural-finish barrel, black-finish handle)

Model RB 174C

Handle diameter |
0.88" |
|
Knob diameter |
1.95" |
|
This
follows the traditional G174 design, which is a big-barrel and
thin-handle design - a power hitters bat. This bat model has a
very large barrel, and tapers quickly to a thin handle - which is
similar in shape to many metal bats.
NOTE: because of the extremely thin handle, we only have this
model available in our all-wood laminated composite design - i.e. not
available in solid-wood. We use a Hickory-core in the handle,
which provides the required strength.
Only
available in a -2 weight drop, however, the balance shift due to the
heavy Hickory in the handle core makes this bat feel lighter than a
-2. |

Model RB 13C
|
Barrel diameter |
2.52" |
|
Handle diameter |
0.93" |
|
Knob diameter |
1.97" |
|
This
follows the traditional I13 design, which is a big-barrel and
medium-handle design - a power hitters bat. The 2 differences
between the RB13C and the RB174C (above) is the diameter of the
handle, and the RB13C has a longer barrel design. This longer
barrel means that the sweet spot is slightly closer to the handle...
be sure to compare the above 174C photo, with 13C photo below.
NOTE: only available in our all-wood laminated composite design - i.e. not
available in solid-wood. We use a Hickory-core in the handle,
which provides the required strength in the handle.
Only
available in a -1.5 weight drop, however, the balance shift due to the
heavy Hickory in the handle core makes this bat feel lighter than a
-1.5. |

A
hybrid between the M110 and C243 designs. A very-well balanced
contact hitters bat, with a larger barrel than traditional balanced
models. This is
our original model shown in the bat test
videos.
The 33"-30-oz. model is the one that performed at 94.96 mph in NCAA
testing, and is B.E.S.R. certified.

Model RB 271
|
Barrel diameter |
2.48" |
|
Handle diameter |
0.93" |
|
Knob diameter |
2.04" |
|
Similar to the C271
design. A slower taper from handle to barrel, and a slighter
larger knob, compared to our model RB.
Also a very
well-balanced, contact-hitters bat.
|

Model RB 331
|
Barrel diameter |
2.44" |
|
Handle diameter |
0.92" |
|
Knob diameter |
2.38" |
|
Similar to the C331
design, but modified to have a fuller barrel. This is the most
popular bat design in the Major Leagues today. Super balance due to
counter-weight of large knob. The counter-weight makes the bat
feel approximately 1 oz. lighter than it actually is. We
designed our model to
have a slightly fuller barrel than other big knob shapes (see
here).

Knob diameter |

|
A
superbly-balanced bat, having a
comfortable handle and stream-lined barrel, creating a balanced
swinging bat with pop and strength.
Because of the slimmer barrel and the thicker handle, this will be THE
most balanced bat we produce. It is also THE most durable
solid-wood bat we produce, because of the extra-large diameter handle. |
