The reason for FORCE TechnologyTM

Microscope photo of Hard Maple end-grain

A closer look at the end grain Hard Maple shows why it falls into the scientific category of a DIFFUSE POROUS wood species.

A DIFFUSE POROUS wood species does not have the weak bands of low-density wood cells.  This is why Hard Maple is a stronger wood, and also why it is a heavier wood than White Ash.

DIFFUSE POROUS woods like Hard Maple do NOT need to be oriented to hit on the EDGE grain of a baseball bat, because they do not fail by Annual Ring Separation like White Ash.
